Renewal Requirements (wef January 2026)
To ensure that all SIMI accredited mediators ("SIMI Mediators") keep their skills and knowledge of mediation updated and relevant, SIMI has
introduced a refreshed set of renewal requirements for each SIMI Mediator tier.
Key Requirements
A SIMI Mediator must fulfill the following criterion in order for his/her accreditation to be renewed:
(a) Attending/participating in continuing professional development requirements (during the Renewal Period - see table below);
(b) Completing a self-declaration of good standing (during the Renewal Period); and
(c) Payment of annual SIMI fees and other outstanding annual fees.
These requirements apply to all SIMI Mediators across all levels. The renewal requirements are underpinned by item (a) above - the attendance of
or participation in continuing professional development events.
Applications for Renewal
SIMI Mediators will only need to submit their application for renewal of their accreditation status (at
the earliest) from 1 January 2028. This is particularly for mediators accredited with SIMI before 31 December 2025.
A SIMI Mediator has to satisfy his/her respective renewal requirements over a 2-year period ("Renewal Period"), which is determined by one's date of accreditation. .

Before 31 December 2025
|
1 January 2026 - 31 December 2027
Eg If a SIMI Mediator is accredited
on 1 August 2025, the Renewal Period for that SIMI Mediator will commence on 1 January 2026
and will run until 31 December 2027.

|
On or After 1 January 2026
|
From 1 January of the calendar year following the
accreditation
Eg If a SIMI Mediator is accredited
on 1 March 2026, the Renewal Period for that SIMI Mediator will commence on 1 January 2027
and will run until 31 December 2028.
|
SIMI Mediators will only need to submit their accreditation renewal requirements (at the earliest) from 1
January 2028.
If a SIMI Mediator is unable to fulfil the renewal requirements, they may apply for conditional renewal by
providing 1) a satisfactory reason for why he or she was unable to meet the requirements within the stipulated time
frame and 2) a draft schedule for how he or she will be satisfying the requirements within the current calendar
year.
Absence of application for renewal or conditional renewal
If a SIMI Mediator does not seek renewal or conditional renewal of his/her SIMI accreditation, SIMI reserves the right
to de-register that individual's status as a SIMI Mediator. This will typically be the last option
pursued by SIMI.
